Abstract: While there are many ways to communicate the how and why of central line management in the prevention of central line–associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI), small contributions, such as one-page e-mail newsletters (eNews), can present a fresh, inviting opportunity. In 2011, in an attempt to engage nurses and prevent CLABSI, a quality improvement project was undertaken to design and deliver monthly one-page newsletters via e-mail. Relying on nurses' technological ability to access e-mail, eNews reached inboxes, where the newsletters competed for attention with job-specific e-mail, hospital announcements, human resources information, and other initiatives. The eNews project was intended to help increase CLABSI awareness, reach novice to expert nursing staff, support repeated attention to target areas, and present the writer as a facility leader. The objective of this article is to present effectiveness and efficiency findings from a survey of RNs and to share the process of creating and disseminating e-mail media.
