This updated guideline responds to changes in healthcare delivery and addresses new oncerns about transmission of infectious agents to patients and healthcare workers in the United States and infection control. The primary objective of the guideline is to improve the safety of the nation’s healthcare delivery system by reducing the rates of HAIs.
Mahmoud graduated as a Registered Nurse from Jordan in 1976. He started his career as RN in Al-Basheer Hospital in Amman, Jordan. He then moved to Dhahran Saudi Arabia and worked with Saudi Arabia’s oil giant, Saudi Aramco, where he worked in its 500-bed hospital for over 34 continuous years (from 1978 to 2012). Within Saudi Aramco, he initially worked as RN for around 4 years, after which he worked as “Infection Control Coordinator” for the remaining 30 years of his career with this company. After leaving Saudi Aramco, Mahmoud has recently worked as a locum for short periods with private as well as Government hospitals in Saudi Arabia either as infection control coordinator or to help control the Corona virus outbreak there.
Mahmoud is highly skilled at areas such as: developing and reviewing infection control policies per CDC and Canadian guidelines, outbreak investigations, monitoring the CSSD, monitoring air quality and water in hospitals, approving disinfectors, surveillance of communicable diseases, very familiar with JCI guidelines, etc. Mahmoud has been a speaker in many national and international symposiums and has published nine (9) papers in many journals.
